My Writing Office

Okay, okay, okay! I know I already posted today but I just couldn't resist. This is GR8 to start the year and it's something I tried so it's true and perfect for the beginning of the year! Here's what my class called our "Mini Office". I used to use two file folders as a "Privacy Fence". Then I came across some really creative ways to use file folders. So I made this and I have received zillions of compliments from teachers and administrators from schools all over my district. I can’t take credit for the idea. I’ve seen this idea on Pinterest and all over the internet. I first made a set for summer school last year and it was a hit. Everyone principal that walked in loved them. I taught 3rd/4th for summer school and ended up teaching 2nd this year so I have a couple of pages that have different versions due to my grade assignment. Simply put: I tweaked a couple pages for primary but kept the old ones. They were too cute!

At “Meet the Teacher” a.k.a. Open House I had them on desks. They really spiced up the room and received RAVE reviews from the parents.

My kids used them as a personal desk reference and during centers. Pretty much any time they were writing. As a treat I let each one take them home today: The last day of school! Yippeee!!!!! Yes, it was the last day for meeeeeeeeeeee!!!!

Okay so you simply put two file folders together, print, paste and laminate for durability. Now the laminating was a little tricky because I did it at home and had to run it through the laminator 4 times. But they were adorable and soooo worth it!

I linked this post up with two Teeeeeeeeerific Bloggers: Fourth Grade Flipper and Flip-Floppin' Through... 3rd Grade. Check them out by clicking their cute buttons below!

  2. I love this idea! I have this pinned on Pinterest, but have yet to use it. Since my goal for next year is to focus more on writing this is something that I will use.

  3. Thanks so much for the positive interaction. I have this on TPT. The printables for my Mini Office are things I created using clip art from Etsy and TPT. You can find it at my store on TPT.

  5. I use a similar version with my students and they love it. It always serves a double purpose because they seem to be a little more focused when they can't look across and giggle at each other. ;)
